Guidance Every Step of the Way
The goal of the Guidance Department is to ensure that each student benefits fully from their education at PMA. School counselors meet on an individual basis with students throughout the school year and closely monitor academic, social and emotional progress. An integral part of the Guidance Department is the developmental guidance program, which focuses on the academic, emotional, and social development of the student as well as career development and the college search process. On-campus visits from college admissions representatives are held throughout the first half of junior and senior year and seminars are hosted annually covering college admission and financial aid & scholarships. The counselors at the Academy take great pride in the overall placement of graduating seniors. Students are continuously accepted at prestigious colleges and universities. The Academy’s record of attaining college placement for one hundred percent of graduating seniors is evidence of the quality education students receive.
Guidance By Grade
To date, most of the seniors have already applied to their colleges at this time. Remember, Once you apply, you need to hand a blue Transcript Request form into the Guidance office. These requests are typically processed the following Monday. Please know that it sometimes takes the college admissions office 3-4 weeks to process transcript information once they receive it. This is why, if you log into the admissions website, it may say they are missing transcripts or recommendation letters. Do not panic if you see this. Please know, if you handed in the blue transcript form, they have been sent. If for some reason, after 3-4 weeks the college still states they have not received a transcript, please let guidance know and we will call the college.
Finally, if you are accepted into college please let us know. We want to publicly congratulate you…and we want to keep a record in the office.

Most Local Scholarships will be coming into PMA after January 1st. We maintain a file in the main foyer that is accessible at any time. We encourage seniors to look through the file weekly.
In addition, two scholarship websites that we encourage seniors to sign-up with are:
Finally, we encourage seniors and parents to visit on-line, or in person, your local town/city high school guidance office. Public schools typically have access to many more scholarship opportunities.
